Greening northern Ghana is our expectation to stop desertification

Greening Northern Ghana (GNG) is a voluntary non-profit, non-political non-ethnic, non- racial and non-religious organisation. Its goal is to reforest Northern Ghana by planting a tree to represent every Ghanaian in five years.

Our Objectives

To green northern Ghana within 5 years, using local talent and resources, and drawing on the youth as the main workforce.

Tree planting

To plant and grow 27 million selected economic, fast-growing and drought- friendly/resistant trees in selected areas of the three northern regions within 5 years.

Youth mobilisation

To mobilise the youth in the basic, secondary and tertiary institutions to assist in planting the trees.

Sustainability strategy

To develop and implement a sustainability strategy that will draw on local resources (material, financial and human) and involve stakeholders in the target communities.

Build a network

To liaise with government institutions/agencies and non-governmental organisations with a similar focus, both in Ghana and beyond, to establish frameworks and ensure a concerted effort.
